DEPARTMENT OF LABORATORIES

'Timely and reliable testing by competent laboratories is the backbone of meaningful quality evaluation, certification, conformity assessment and activities related to consumer protection, safety and health'

Testing is an essential adjunct to activities relating to industrial development, quality control and quality assurance, consumer protection and health and safety of population at large. The Ministry of Commerce & Industry Testing Laboratories at the Directorate General for Specifications & Measurements (DGSM) have been set up to assist the Government, industry and commerce and common citizen towards the Government of Oman's aim of making the nation self reliant and for ensuring better standards of life, health and safety.

The following testing laboratories, well equipped with the state-of-the art testing equipment and analytical instruments of comparable international standards, have been established to test as per Omani/GCC/International Standards, or to customers' requirements or client company's specifications.
