CHEMICAL LABORATORY This Laboratory is responsible for the analysis of a wide range of foodstuffs destined for both human and animal consumption. The laboratory is well equipped with the latest analytical instruments so that a wide range of analytical techniques are available of particular interest at present are cereal foods, dairy products, animal feed, infant formula, oils & fats, malt beverages, fish, and other marine products. The major requirements is "proximate analysis "nearly complete analysis comprising protein, fat, and ash, and, by subtracting these from the total calculating carbohydrate by difference, but there is an increasing requirement to carry out vitamins analysis. Quality assessment of Omani products and imported products to ensure consistent
with local and international specifications - Contribute in preparation of draft Omani/Gulf standards - Detection of additives and preservatives The laboratory has a wide range of sophisticated equipment such as: - Atomic Absorption spectroscopy to detect the toxic & organic metals Each of which is equipped with computerised data handling facilities. |
