| DEPARTMENT
OF GEOLOGICAL SURVEY 1. Main aims and objectives of this department are: - To carry out the basic geological studies, preparation of geological maps on various scales and prospecting for minerals (both metallic and non-metallic) in entire Oman on a regional scale. - Many types of geological, airborne geophysical and geochemical surveys of potential areas on a regional scale to delimit areas for detailed surveys by the Department of Mineral Exploration. - Publishing of geological documents (reports, books and other scientific papers). - Collaborative research projects on Oman's geology and mineral exploration with various foreign countries. 2. List of the Geological Maps and infrastructure already produced by the deaprtment: - Geological map of Oman on 1:1000,000 scale. - Geological maps of Oman on 1:250,000 scale (28 sheets).
